The award Jakob 2017 – »Innovative touristic programs for active vacation in natural environment«

for the project Karavanke Unesco Global Geopark by Delovna skupnost Geopark Karavanke

The Geopark Karavanke is a cross-border project and the area of Austria and Slovenia which offers numerous touristic contents and programs to the visitors in many innovative ways. Programs for in-depth experience of natural environments, enable a range of active holidays in this environment. Geopark has two basic centres, the Council of Geology in Eisenkappel in Austria and the Infocentrom Geopark in Mežica in Slovenia, which is associated with the tourist mine. The innovation of this project lies in the fact that the visitors are brought closer to nature in a different, more personal, attractive and understandable way. The cross-border integration contributes a lot to this direction, as well as the fact, that the junctions of different cultures enrich the modern man.
